Cali Clear Not Hitting, Blinking or Not Charging

Most Cali Clear problems come down to four things: the battery, a blocked mouthpiece, cold oil, or the auto cut-off doing exactly what it is designed to do. Work through them in that order and you will fix almost everything without needing a replacement.

Why is my Cali Clear blinking?

A blinking light almost always means one of two things, and they are easy to tell apart by when it happens.

• It blinks while you are drawing, then stops. That is the auto cut-off. The device has a maximum draw length and shuts itself off when you pass it. This is normal and is not a fault.
• It blinks when you try to draw and no vapor comes. That is a flat battery, or a short caused by liquid getting where it should not be. Charge it first and see whether the behaviour changes.

Rapid blinking that continues after a full charge usually means the coil has failed. If the device is new, that is a warranty case rather than something to work around.

How long is a blinker on a Cali Clear?

Around 8 to 10 seconds of continuous draw, at which point the device cuts off automatically. That window is a safety limit on how long the coil is allowed to stay hot.

Drawing right up to the cut-off every single time is the most common reason a device starts tasting burnt halfway through the tank. The coil never gets a chance to cool and the wick dries out faster than the oil can feed it. Shorter pulls make the second half of the tank taste like the first.

Why is my Cali Clear not hitting?

Go through these in order. It is nearly always one of the first three.

1. The battery is flat

The most common cause by a wide margin, and the easiest to rule out. Put it on charge for 45 minutes before you try anything else, even if the light still comes on. A battery with just enough charge to light the indicator often does not have enough to heat the coil properly.

2. The mouthpiece is blocked

Vapor condenses back into liquid inside the mouthpiece and forms a plug. You get airflow but little or no vapor, or you get a gurgle.

Fix it by pushing a straightened paperclip or a cotton bud gently through the mouthpiece channel to clear the condensation, then draw once with the device switched off, if yours has a switch, to pull the rest through. Do not blow into it hard, because that pushes liquid back down into the airway.

3. The oil is too cold

Liquid diamonds oil is thick, and it gets thicker as it cools. If the device has been in a car overnight or in an outside pocket in winter, the oil will not wick fast enough to feed the coil.

Warm the device in a closed hand for five minutes. Do not use a hairdryer, a radiator or hot water, and never leave it in direct sun to warm up, because overheating the oil ruins the flavour and can damage the battery.

4. You are drawing too hard

Draw-activated devices are calibrated for a slow, steady pull. Pulling hard and fast can drop the pressure enough that the sensor does not register properly, and on a thick oil it can flood the coil. Ease off and draw gently.

5. The device is genuinely finished

If the oil window is empty or the device has been running for a while, the coil has simply worn out. Disposables are not refillable and are not meant to be opened.

How long does a Cali Clear take to charge?

Roughly 45 minutes from empty over USB-C.

Use a low-output charger, such as a laptop port or a phone charger. A high-wattage fast charger delivers more current than a small battery like this is designed for, which shortens its life.

How do I know when a Cali Clear is charged?

The indicator light stays lit while charging and turns off when the battery is full. That is the signal to unplug it.

Leaving it plugged in overnight does not help. The battery is full long before morning, and sitting at full charge on the cable is one of the main things that degrades a small lithium cell. Unplug it when the light goes out.

Should I charge it before the first use?

Yes. Devices ship partly charged, not fully. A half-charged battery under-heats the coil and the first tank tastes noticeably thinner than it should. A full charge before the first session is the single easiest thing you can do to make the device taste right.

How do I use the dual chamber DUO?

The DUO holds two flavors in two isolated tanks. A slider on the body selects which chamber you are drawing from.

• Move the slider fully to one side before you draw. Halfway does not blend the two, it just gives you a poor seal.
• Nothing mixes between the chambers, so the second flavor tastes the same on the last pull as it did on the first.
• Both chambers run off one battery, so charge it the same way as any other device.

Why does it taste burnt?

Three causes, in order of likelihood: drawing to the auto cut-off repeatedly, chain-pulling without a pause, or a device that is close to empty. The wick needs a few seconds between draws to re-saturate. If it tastes burnt from the very first pull on a full, freshly charged device, that is a fault rather than technique, so contact us.

Still not working

If you have charged it fully, cleared the mouthpiece, warmed it, and it still will not run, the device is faulty. Email us with your order reference and a short video showing the problem and we will replace it.
