Cali Clear V3, V4 and V5: Which Generation Are You Buying?

Cali Clear has revised its hardware several times, and the generation you end up with changes how the device draws far more than it changes how it tastes. That distinction matters, because most complaints about a device "not being as good as last time" turn out to be hardware rather than oil.

The short version

• V3 is the older platform. It still appears in variety boxes and older stock.
• V4 moved to a self-contained rechargeable body and is what most bulk packs currently ship on.
• V5 is the current release: firmer draw, wider mouthpiece, less prone to clogging on thick oil.

The oil is consistent across all three. If a flavour you liked tastes flatter on a new device, the usual explanation is that the draw changed, not the extract.

How to tell which one you have

The quickest check is the charging port. Current-generation devices use USB-C. A micro-USB port means you are holding either old stock or something that is not genuine at all, which is worth ruling out with our real versus fake checklist before you use it.

Beyond that, the body shape differs. The V5 is noticeably squarer at the base with a wider airway through the mouthpiece. Hold a V3 and a V5 side by side and the difference is obvious; hold one on its own and the port is the reliable tell.

Why the draw changed, and why it matters

Liquid diamonds oil is thick. On a narrow airway it condenses and gradually restricts the pull, which is why older devices sometimes drew beautifully for the first half of the tank and then got progressively harder work. Widening the mouthpiece was the fix.

The firmer draw on the V5 is deliberate too. A very loose draw pulls vapour through faster than the coil can produce it, which thins out the flavour. Adding resistance gives the coil time to work, and it is the reason the current generation holds its character further down the tank.

Does the generation affect strength?

No. The extract is the same blend across generations, so potency is not the variable. What changes is how efficiently the device vaporises it, which affects flavour consistency rather than how much you are getting per pull.

Which one should you buy?

For a new purchase, buy current. There is no advantage to an older generation at the same price, and the newer body genuinely performs better on thick oil.

The two current-generation devices in stock are Cloud Walker V5 on the indica side and Forbidden Fruit V5 on the sativa side.

The one reason to deliberately choose an older generation is if you specifically preferred the looser draw, which some people genuinely do. If that is you, the original Cloud Walker is the same flavour on the earlier body.

Replacing a device you liked

Match the generation, not just the flavour. Ordering the same flavour on different hardware and being surprised by the result is the single most common cause of a disappointing reorder, and it is entirely avoidable if you check the port before you buy again.
